Aptoide for iOS is Now Available to All EU Users
We’re excited to share that our iOS store, Aptoide for iOS, is finally available to all users in the European Union! This marks another major milestone for us following a successful beta launch in the summer of last year.
Just to give you an idea of the demand we received, let us recap the timeline. We launched the beta in June 2024 as the first free alternative app store on iOS. In only nine months, tens of thousands of people joined and downloaded the store, becoming part of our global community of 50 million users per month.
Which brings us to the full launch, which ushers in a new era of freedom and diversity in digital content distribution for Aptoide and the wider app store market. We are incredibly proud to be part of this turning point in game distribution, offering users a new way of accessing apps and games on their Apple devices beyond the App Store.
Here are a few ways we’re different. Unlike Apple’s 30 percent fees on organic in-app purchases, Aptoide for iOS only charges 20 percent. On top of this, many other third-party iOS options come at a cost to consumers. By being free to download and use, Aptoide for iOS gives developers the chance to access our broader pool of users.
And that’s not all. As part of the launch, we’ve included another groundbreaking exclusive feature. It’s called App Versions and it allows users to install older versions of their favorite games. The feature, which is the first on any app store, grants users unprecedented control over app versions, and greater flexibility in their gaming experience. If players don’t like a new game update, they can stick with the old version. Games, in every form they’ve been released, are more accessible than ever on our store – whether players prefer an older version of a game or have a phone that can’t handle the newest updates. Aptoide gives users more choice and subverts the rigid update structures of traditional app marketplaces.
Since Aptoide’s founding almost two decades ago, we’ve been fighting to give developers and publishers the freedom to do things their way, beyond major app stores. The ever-changing regulation landscape, particularly the Digital Markets Act in the EU, has been incredibly helpful for creating this expanded market. This launch is the next step in our mission to further diversity, creativity and innovation in the app store space.
